Brdr. Krüger Reveals Three New Furniture Pieces by Hans

Danish Architect and designer Hans Bølling, now in his 90s, has had a trailblazing career that began in the 1950s. Although he has been responsible for many iconic Danish designs over the decades, he has never before created a lounge chair – until now.

Brdr. Krüger Reveals Three New Furniture Pieces by Hans
Developed in collaboration with family-owned and and self-producing Danish design company Brdr. Krüger, the new HB Lounge Chair, HB Stool and HB Coffee Table continues Bølling’s iconic design line of powerful modern simplicity with honest and appealing details. Laying the foundation for timeless design, the furniture is built to last at Brdr. Krüger’s 5th generation workshop in Denmark.

“I am extremely proud to be able to present three new pieces of furniture that I feel represent my work. I want to convey pure architectural lines and details in my design, which together create human connections and a breeding ground for joy and good living.” —Hans Bølling

In collaboration with American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), Bølling’s new pieces made their global debut with a special exhibition in Copenhagen at 3DaysofDesign; The Home of Hans Bølling. The exhibition was curated by architect and artist Sara Martinsen, who recreated Bølling’s home and study, presenting a collection of models and sketches that explored his iconic spirit and creativity. Martinsen also created four bespoke complementary art pieces.

At his home, north of Copenhagen, Hans Bølling has been developing the three pieces over several years, refining the designs through a series of sketches and models until achieving the final product.

“Bølling has a unique eye for the structural and well proportioned. In between the strict lines he manages to infuse subtle layers of details and honest solutions, which make his design compelling and user-friendly. He is a master of emotional simplicity, and that makes his design timeless. We are pleased to collaborate with AHEC and inspire the use of alternative wood species that are not subject to overconsumption. Current global events have shown us all, that resources are not something to be taken for granted, and that change is needed.” —Jonas Krüger, Creative Director and co-owner of Brdr. Krüger
